****APRIL IS A BIG MONTH FOR THE CIVIL WAR AND FOR NEW YORK CITY….it was in this month in 1861 that the civil war started and it was in this month in 1865 when it ended. when lincoln instituted the draft there were bloody riots on the streets of new york city as whites attacked and killed blacks who they held responsible for the war. but, many northern whites were against slavery and 360,222 died in that cause. i am giving a special tour this month that highlights significant civil war places in new york city. for further information, just send an email to peter@gabby.com
