****PANIC SWEEPS THE NEW YORK CITY CATHOLICS….the pope made a crack about the evils of islam. so now, the catholics are the object of death threats and bombings in this city. our police department has assigned extra personnel to catholic churches throughout the big apple. it already is an established policy to guard jewish synagogues.
****A NEW KIND OF RAT IS ATTACKING NEW YORK CITY TREES….school is back in session and as the high school kiddies walk to school, they jump up and break tree limbs. community groups have complained to the schools. the teachers say it is a police problem. the police say it is a parks department problem.
****IF THERE IS ONE THING YOU CAN SAY ABOUT OUR PHONE COMPANY, IT IS….not a very neat neighbor. all over the city there are mazes of telephone wires that just hang off the sides of buildings.
****an outraged brooklyn mom says staffers at the toys 'r' us in times square tried to stop her from breast-feeding her 7-month-old son within view of other customers, which new york state law permits her to do. new york city law permits women to walk around the city streets with no shirt on. obviously corporate america doesn’t like teats. ****a new york university student (white) chased by four teen thugs (black) into the path of a car in harlem in april - was screaming and drenched in blood at the scene, an emt testified at the trial this past week. the white student is dead. the black teens are on trial. if you are white and from out of town, why not go for a stroll on the friendly streets of harlem? ****the room was filthy, she said, with bits of paper littering the brown carpet and pieces of loosened enamel cluttering the bathtub. the mini-fridge was so covered with dust balls that she had to “blow the fluff off.” the windows? “they are black,” she said. “we’ve got no view as such. they are absolutely black.” one of the best sources of income for taxi drivers in new york city is moving visitors out of a hotel because of its poor condition. ****the former giuliani administration aide found strangled in a million-dollar manhattan apartment was killed by a male prostitute he picked up for $40 in cocaine. rudy wants to be president of the united states. if he wins, we can look forward to this type of people in the white house. ****OLD TIME RADIO (shows you might be too young to remember)….”luigi” was a fun show about an italian who came to the united states. it would not be considered politically correct today. THE PAST ****THE SNEAKY CAMERA (the hidden camera)….a growing collection of new yorkers are unaware that they are being watched by a certain taxi driver. new ones are added from time to time. take a peep at SNEAKY ****YENTA YACK FROM THE BACK OF THE HACK (what they are talking about in the yellow mobile conveyance lounge)….the taxi commission may let us raise the fare rates so that each cab driver will be able to make about five dollars a week more. here is what the media would have you believe that all cab drivers look like in new york city.
****QUIET PLEASE, THIS IS THE LIBRARY (get away from the din of life)….alice mcdermott has written a novel “after this” which has as its background the irish catholics of the greater new york city area and the impact they made on this area. the book is published by farrar, straus & giroux. ****THE STORY BEHIND THE STORY (what the media didn't tell you)....many of the old folks in new york city are having trouble paying their rent and buying their food. bush, cheney, rice and rumsfeld are making so much money on our wars, maybe they could personally throw a few bucks to the senior citizens. by the way, the rate of suicide among people over 65 in new york city has shot up to its highest point this century.
****THE EARL THEATER (it used to be on 161st street in the bronx. new york city has lots of rich people, but it has many more people living in slums thanks to the inaction of the city government and crooked landlords. SLUM (please note: when playing a movie on your computer, you should diminish the size of the frame. if you have a problem, please contact us. **AND THAT NEAT MOVIE HOUSE ALWAYS SHOWED A DOUBLE FEATURE AND HERE WE ARE WITH A SECOND FLICK. this is a wonderful trip around new york city in the famous yellow mobile conveyance lounge. HONK HONK ****THE HEY ABBOTT AWARD (an epistle about life)....this week the award goes to all the schmuck tourists who take carriage rides in central park. the horses are mistreated and have a pretty miserable life. last week, one of the drivers was whipping a horse that would not get up and a crowd of new yorkers threatened to beat the driver if he did not stop. the tourists were dismayed that they had to wait for things to calm down before they could have their horsey ride.
